In the north-west of Aitoloakarnania, between Lefkada and Ithaki, there is a small paradise island, with emerald waters and traditional settlements, which enchants the visitor with its charm and reveals to us all something of the beauty of authentic Greece, that has'nt been altered even from the direct tourism development.
A mountainous island of the Ionian with pine-covered slopes, turquoise beaches and historical monuments scattered in territory. The high mountain range of the island is verdant by many and tall, unique in their kind Seafood or Royal pine trees where they spring through the rocks and give a special and wild beauty to the island and carry the visitors to other past seasons.
The extent of island is 20 km² and the height of mountain at 780 metres. It allocates two schools where now functions only the one. The permanent residents of island are around 200. In summertime however are multiplied by relatives and friends.
The port is located on the east side. The work that became has increased the possibilities of hospitality of ships and the marine transports that are the unique way of communication with the remainder world. One boat and one sea taxi execute rutes from and to Mitikas transporting passengers and the merchandises for the residents of island.
In Kalamos exist clean beaches, small islander taverns, graphic alleyway in to village, the warmth and the love of residents and the garnish of island a big forest with pines where you feel that you find itself in a magic world.
